Welcome to the Colony!

Hood Honey is an apiary and farm in Mt. Pleasant, a neighborhood of Cleveland, OH. From our inception, we sought to build relationships while focusing on experiences and the importance of diversity. Our mission, creating Black economic development with an urban farm works to transform Mt. Pleasant, starting with its vacant lots that attract rabbits, birds, groundhogs, and deer, simultaneously providing places for drug and alcohol abuse.

We’re farming to transform these lots into productive spaces and enhance the positive attributes that make Cleveland special. We recognized that by offering volunteer opportunities, we can connect and involve our community and provide the convenience of remaining in the city, while cultivating holistic products and greens.

We’re also passionate about urban beekeeping, and we understand honey’s natural versatility, medicinal benefits, and distinctive sweetness. Our bees cultivate unique flavors from the familiar clover to seasonal fruits. Our honey is paired with wild-crafted herbs to develop soaps, lotions, and more.

“Farming is a powerful technique in community development.” - Trey Williams, Owner

We’re always interested in partnering with people and organizations that share our love for community and working with youth. Where we can nourish natural talents and build practical skills. The efforts of our community have allowed us to work with the USDA, build a hoop house, erect fences, and invest 30k in bee therapy to provide avenues for mental health and asthma.

Hood Honey strives to impart sustainable practices that are beneficial to our community, and yours too.
